The Chinese Expertise of XPENG

The user interface is intuitive, with a high-definition touchscreen and an intelligent voice assistant. The latter allows for optimal vehicle control without taking your eyes off the road. Our best SUVs benefit from over-the-air updates, guaranteeing access to the latest innovations without a workshop visit.

XPENG goes further by integrating an 800V platform for ultra-fast charging. With refined design and advanced connectivity, XPENG is establishing itself as an essential benchmark among new electric cars.

XPENG's Expansion in Australia

XPENG officially returned to the Australian market in early July 2026 with the launch of the New G6, marking an important milestone in the brand's local journey. As the first model introduced under XPENG Australia's refreshed strategy, the New G6 reflects the company's commitment to bringing intelligent electric mobility, ultra-fast charging, and software-defined vehicle technology to Australian drivers.

That momentum continued on 21 July 2026, when XPENG hosted its Australia Brand Day in Melbourne—the first major brand event following the refresh of XPENG Australia. The event officially introduced the company's long-term vision for the market, reaffirming its commitment to "In Australia, For Australia" and outlining an ambitious roadmap for continued growth. XPENG announced plans to expand its local retail and service network, establish flagship Experience Centres, introduce five new models over the coming months, and roll out Advanced Urban NGP in Australia in 2027.

More than a product launch, Australia Brand Day signalled XPENG's long-term commitment to the Australian market. By combining global AI innovation with local investment and customer support, XPENG is positioning itself as a premium electric vehicle brand built for the future of Australian mobility.

XPENG New G6: The Electric SUV Combining Sporty Design and Technology

The XPENG New G6 embodies a new era for electric SUVs, blending elegance, performance, and innovation.

Design and Comfort

With its sporty silhouette and sloping roofline, the XPENG New G6 adopts a modern and aerodynamic design. At 4.75 metres in length, it offers a spacious interior. Adjustable seats in premium materials such as Nappa leather ensure optimal comfort. The boot offers a generous 571 litres of cargo space.

Performance and Range

The New G6 is available in several versions. In rear-wheel drive, it delivers up to 218 kW (292hp), while the Performance version delivers 358 kW (480hp). The latter accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.1 seconds. This SUV has a WLTP range of up to 535km, placing it among electric vehicles with excellent range in its category.

Technology and Safety

Built on the full-domain 800V High-voltage SiC Platform, the New G6 benefits from an 800V electrical architecture. This technology enables ultra-fast charging. With the right charger, the battery goes from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes.

        What is an 800V Platform?

An 800V platform means the vehicle's high-voltage system (battery, inverters, cabling) is optimised to operate around 800 volts, instead of 400V for more conventional architectures. Thanks to this higher voltage, at equivalent current, the charging power can be doubled, allowing:

  • Thinner cables with less Joule-effect loss

  • Reduced thermal losses and better charging efficiency

  • The ability to maintain high power over a wider state-of-charge range (e.g. between 30% and 80%), without the curve dropping prematurely

In other words, compatible high-voltage charging infrastructure (800V or convertible chargers) can deliver ultra-fast charges, and the vehicle can fully exploit this power, provided the charger allows it.

The vehicle's giga-casting structure enhances its rigidity, also improving safety and stability. This design earned the New G6 a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Conclusion

The XPENG New G6 brings together sophisticated design, competitive range, ultra-fast charging, and advanced safety technology in a package designed for Australian roads. With up to 535 km of WLTP range, 800V charging, and a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, it demonstrates that Chinese electric SUVs have become a serious option in the premium segment.
