Cabin Air Care for Australian Summers: Heat, Moisture and Dust

Australian driving can mean strong sun, sudden summer rain, coastal humidity, dust and long stretches with the vehicle closed up. Good cabin-air care is mostly about reducing heat and moisture, keeping the interior clean and maintaining the ventilation system.

Before you drive

When the vehicle has been parked in direct sun, allow hot air to escape before settling in. Use the climate controls to bring the cabin to a comfortable temperature, and never leave children or pets unattended in a parked vehicle.

Keep moisture under control

Remove wet clothing, umbrellas and beach gear as soon as practical. Dry floor mats fully after cleaning or heavy rain. If the windscreen repeatedly fogs or a musty smell returns, arrange an inspection rather than relying on air freshener.

Reduce dust and debris

Vacuum fabric surfaces and the gaps around the seats, and keep the exterior air-intake area clear. Follow the owner's manual for cabin-filter servicing. Vehicles used in dusty areas may need attention sooner than vehicles driven mainly in clean urban conditions.

Use fragrance carefully

Choose a mild product that is suitable for vehicle interiors, and place it where it cannot obstruct a vent, pedal, airbag or the driver's view. If anyone in the vehicle is sensitive to fragrance, fresh air and regular cleaning are usually the better option.

Know when to seek help

Unusual burning, fuel-like or electrical smells should not be treated as a housekeeping issue. Park safely, stop using the vehicle if necessary and contact XPENG support or an authorised service centre.
