Q4 2026 marks the start of overseas deliveries for the XPENG L03 — the compact AI SUV that has become XPENG's most talked-about launch of the year. What makes it worth watching, wherever you live, is that the L03 was never a domestic car. It is the first XPENG model developed simultaneously for 65 markets, built on the company's in-house AI stack, and now beginning its global rollout.
The L03 launched globally on 16 July 2026 at XPENG LIVE in Munich, going on sale in 65 countries in the same year. In China, its home market, it took 46,859 firm orders within the first hour of launch and passed 20,000 within seven minutes — a record for the brand. Now the overseas phase begins: XPENG confirmed in its Q2 2026 results that MONA L03 overseas deliveries will start in Q4, as the company targets quarterly overseas sales above 40,000 units.

The L03 was designed as a global product from day one — and Australia is one of the 65 markets it was engineered for, not a region added on afterwards. The design led by JuanMa López, formerly head of exterior design at Ferrari, and the 23-country studio behind the "Vital Flow" language were working to a global brief, and the overseas version runs XOS 6 with mixed-language recognition across English, German and French. For Australian drivers the practical payoff starts in the cabin: the L03 is the first XPENG to integrate Google Maps Auto SDK — making XPENG the first automaker from China and the APAC region to do so — so the navigation experience is the one Australians already know, not a localised afterthought. Underneath, the same in-house Turing AI stack does the driving: the L03's Ultra variants run two Turing chips in tandem, delivering up to 1,500 TOPS of on-board compute. The second-generation VLA model — XPENG's flagship advanced driver-assistance system — is planned to roll out overseas via over-the-air upgrade from 2027.
Long distances and outdoor life are where the L03 is built to fit. The pure-electric version pairs a generous range with class-leading efficiency and fast charging, so long highway legs between towns stay effortless. For those who want zero range anxiety, the super extended-range version delivers a long total range with an electric-first daily drive and impressively low fuel consumption on the open road. Space is generous too — on the pure-electric version, a useful front trunk; across the range, a large boot that expands considerably with the seats folded, plentiful storage throughout the cabin, and provisions for a tow bar and roof rack.
The L03 was engineered from the outset to meet five-star safety standards across China, Europe and Australia simultaneously — not certified for one region and adapted for others. That matters more in Australia than almost anywhere else: a five-star ANCAP rating is effectively the price of entry for family buyers, and the L03 was designed to clear that bar as part of its global engineering rather than as a regional add-on. Two systems also speak directly to Australian road conditions. All-scenario blowout stabilisation — covering single-tyre, dual-tyre and cornering blowouts — is built for long rural and outback stretches where a sudden tyre failure at speed is a real risk, and the driver-incapacitation assistance system can act when a driver becomes unwell on a long solo drive between towns. These are not marketing extras; they are engineering answers to the way Australians actually drive.
XPENG's global footprint is already substantial: more than 1.2 million cumulative deliveries, sales networks in 65 countries and regions, over 1,200 stores, and ultra-fast charging covering 31 countries with access to more than 2.7 million charging points. More than 60,000 European customers have chosen XPENG. In Q2 2026, overseas sales passed 20,000 units for the first time, up 81% year on year, with overseas revenue accounting for over 25% of first-half revenue. Closer to home, XPENG has announced a long-term Australia strategy, committing to five all-new models in the market within six months.
With overseas deliveries starting this quarter, the L03 becomes the clearest demonstration yet of XPENG's "Physical AI for All" vision reaching markets beyond China. For Australian drivers, the car itself is the preview: an AI-first compact SUV coupe, engineered to global standards, backed by a brand that has committed to the local market.
