Munich, July 16, 2026 — XPENG (NYSE: XPEV, HKEX: 9868), a leading China-based high-tech company, held the official launch event for its all-new XPENG L03 in Munich, Germany. He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of XPENG, announced a milestone global strategy: the all-new XPENG L03 holds its official launch event in Munich, Germany. XPENG L03, the Next-Gen AI SUV Coupe, is launched simultaneously in 65 countries and regions markets.
Concurrently, to provide global users with a superior and more intelligent mobility experience, XPENG officially announced a partnership with Google Maps in vehicles outside China. XPENG will build its own navigation system using Google Maps’ Auto SDK, giving users access to foundational Google Maps technology and services in a custom XPENG experience. Furthermore, XPENG will use Google Maps in-vehicle Map Data Services to support the NGP (Next Generation Pilot) which is the flagship full-scenario intelligent assist driving system, as well as XPILOT ASSIST, the foundational assist system. This upgrade in map capabilities will primarily be available in most of the overseas markets.
First from China and the entire APAC region: Creating a unique navigation experience for XPENG drivers with Google Maps Auto SDK.
XPENG is the first automaker from APAC to ship a vehicle with Google Maps Auto SDK (Software Development Kit) integration. The Google Maps Auto SDK allows OEMs to design their own navigation experience on top of Google's foundational technology – including real-time traffic-aware guidance, EV energy estimation and trip planning, place search capabilities, and more. This means users neither need to download the Google Maps app themselves nor rely on smartphone screen mirroring. Instead, they can natively enjoy the complete XPENG in-car map experience built specifically for the XPENG vehicle, with the best of Google Maps.
Overseas users of the XPENG L03 will be the first to enjoy this upgraded experience among the other car models. On the in-car screen, users will continue to use the familiar XPENG map application. The overall interface, map rendering, and operational interactions are all independently designed by XPENG.
“Over 2 billion users turn to Google Maps each month, and we are pleased to bring our industry-leading technology to more drivers in Europe and beyond,” says Jorgen Behrens, VP/GM of Google Maps Automotive. “In less than a year, XPENG has successfully deployed a refreshed navigation experience, seamlessly combining their distinct design with our navigation expertise via Google Maps’ Auto SDK.”
Google Maps offers significant advantages for drivers: high accuracy, broad coverage, continuous updates, and rich information about places. By integrating Google Maps foundational technology, XPENG can develop a navigation experience tailored to XPENG drivers, leveraging the breadth, depth, scale, and freshness of Google Maps technology and services. With Google Maps integrated in the car, XPENG drivers will be able to navigate confidently and accurately estimate energy consumption on different routes, while enjoying existing XPENG car features like voice control and seamless display transfer across multiple screens.
To lay the cornerstone for the global expansion of XPENG's autonomous driving system, the future application of NGP(VLA 2.0) in overseas markets must rely on map data and navigation maneuvers. The adoption of Google Maps as a fundamental capability will provide a solid base for the phased global launch of XPENG's advanced driving systems. Integrating Google Map Data Services into the Google Automotive SDK is a key upgrade that clears the path for NGP (VLA 2.0)'s international growth.
[Future Plans]
With the initiation of the XPENG L03's global launch process, XPENG is leveraging solid technological partnerships with Google to extend its intelligence advantages to the rest of the world.
